President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that a number of South Africaโ€™s lockdown regulations will be relaxed as the country moves to a level 1 lockdown from midnight on Sunday 20th September). However, in light of the restrictions that are still in place on large gatherings (over 500 people) due to the global pandemic Covid-19, we have had to make the very difficult decision to not host Medieval Fayre this year due to the financial and social risks.

Whilst the decision is heart breaking for us due to the breaking of tradition, months of hard work and the finances that have already been poured into the preparations, the legal implications are simply too much for Alter Egos to risk. Further to the legal implications, the health and safety of our guests, vendors and performers is of paramount importance.

For the last 8 years, Alter Egos has bought patrons in Johannesburg a magical Medieval day out. In order to continue to bring you a Medieval Fayre to the same standard as previous years, the are massive costs involved which we are simply unable to risk in this current climate.

Medieval Fayre: There & Back Again will be held at La Vue Guest Lodge on 5th June 2021.

An annual increase will be applied in 2021. However, in good faith, all tickets that have been purchased to date will be honoured for the event next year at this year’s purchase price and all accommodation bookings will be honoured as well. Ticket prices will remain at this year’s prices until 25 December 2020 and tickets will remain on sale.

We plead with the community to understand how disappointing this is for our team that has worked so hard to bring this magical event to life, as we have done for the past 8 years.
Circumstances are unprecedented and beyond our control.

We have already commenced with work on the 2021 event and we pray that normality will return to South Africa and the events industry in the upcoming months with no further postponements on the cards.
