Nestled in the heart of the Westrand, Rusty Hook boomed with sound of drums, revelry and calls of the clan.

As warriors, shieldmaidens, boatbuilders and Viking adventurers shouted resounding Skals! we celebrated the 4th biennual Viking Thing.

Memories were made as chili was chugged, axes were thrown, battles were fought and Valhalla was brought to life by the magnificent minds of the AlterEgos crew.

The village market offered up all manner of incredible crafts and wares, costumes were on display and the competition was fierce as Slayer awarded a cash prize to the most authentic Viking on the day. Beards were measured, knowledge was tested, and laughter resounded through the hills as old friends were found and hammers were hunted.

The bravest of warriors rose to the challenge as they walked through fire, plunged to the icy depths and stepped through glass. Tribute was paid to those lost via a burning boat crossing through the gates on Rusty’s dam.

A firm favourite on the AlterEgos calendar, A Viking Thing 2025 was certainly one for the history books.

Until we meet again on the battlefield of imagination, we remain forever grateful for your presence, and we salute you, dear friends, with hearts full of gratitude and Viking pride.
