A Night of Antici… pation at Rusty Hook
“It was a night they were going to remember for a very long time.”
On Saturday 5 October, Rusty Hook in Honeydew was utterly transformed into a decadent Transylvanian castle as fans of The Rocky Horror Picture Show descended on the venue to celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary in true outrageous style. The night saw a kaleidoscope of costumes: from corseted Frank-N-Furters and Magentas to Brads, Janets, Eddies, and sparkly Columbias… all gathered for an evening of wild abandon and nostalgic fun.
The Alter Egos cast brought the cult classic to life with a hilarious, high-energy performance that perfectly captured the eccentric magic of Richard O’Brien’s creation. From the moment the opening notes of Science Fiction played, the crowd was hooked – throwing toast, waving cards, lighting candles, and laughing along as man-made rain fell over the delighted audience.
Projected across two massive screens, The Rocky Horror Picture Show unfolded beneath the stars as fans sang, shouted, and, of course, did the Time Warp again (and again). The atmosphere was electric; a seamless blend of camp, chaos, and community spirit that reminded everyone why this film has endured for half a century.
The 50th Anniversary celebration at Rusty Hook wasn’t just a movie screening. It was an immersive experience, a love letter to one of cinema’s most iconic cult hits, and a chance for fans old and new to lose themselves in the madness.
Unforgettable, uninhibited, and unapologetically fun… just as Dr. Frank-N-Furter would have wanted.
